We have puppies :)

On Tuesday 7th of July Khali was clearly feeling like something was different, and was panting throughout the day while staying calm and unfazed. We helped her transform her bed into a whelping box and had all our supplies on hand, and then waited... At about 10pm we noticed she was up and moving around more, but still wasn't making much fuss, so it was a slight surprise to see her stand up casually, pant, and then a bubble of puppy appear gently on her bedding! Khali was equally surprised and completely bewildered, but quickly took to nuzzling and instincts took over. While we were right there to monitor Khali needed no assistance as she cleaned up her very first pup and couldn't take her eyes off him. A boy :). A super big boy actually! All fingers and toes accounted for and moving strongly. For the next hour she was able to give 100% attention as she cleaned him and gazed at him in clear fascination. He was able to attach very fast, and Xander was standing by with a bewildered look which was soooo endearing!! They were both super attentive, while Xander was more curious than productive ;)... Finally Khali began to stand up and make gentle grumbles, and another pup appeared. While still a little surprised she quickly got to cleaning and when the 3rd pup arrived she was clearly in charge and calmly and gently let Xander know that it was time for him to give her some space please... Her final pup arrived at 4:30am and with all cleaned up and attaching well we all settled down to rest, so delighted with Khali and her new bundles of joy and beyond impressed with her composure and mothering instincts, she was just superb and we couldn't be prouder :).
