Time goes pretty fast and there’s no time to stop and look around: pups are growing rapidly and are well and truly ready for their new adventures and to form new bonds.
This week as they turned 7 weeks we completed Volhard testing: this provides a score that helps identify characteristics we can call out to help with training, and as a gauge of well roundedness. We had no puppies test at either extremes (all 1s or all 6s) and while it is a ‘simple’ test it takes some time and preparation to make sure it’s administered for accurate results. Its interesting for anyone looking to assess a puppy, and can be found on any google search though this page is quite thorough: https://www.volharddognutrition.com/content/choosing-your-puppy.pdf
On other news we have been practicing car trips, crate training and leash exposure on top of our regular explorations in order to give families a head start and puppies an introduction to what’s expected as they grow older. I should add that this simple paragraph in no way fully captures what that day looks like, but I have tried to capture some moments at least 🤗.
